Women’s Month fetes disabled persons, children’s health fightApril 12, 2015
The female leadership at the House of Representatives kept the fires of political struggle burning for the marginalized as they took the opportunity of refocusing Women’s Month to highlight the needs of children and women with disabilities (WWDs).
Early in the morning, Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Emmi De Jesus led hundreds of medical staff and patients in marking the global anti-violence campaign One Billion Rising at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City with a community dance that also celebrated the victory of the cancer treatment center over eviction and land sale attempts by the government.
The House Committee on Women and Gender Equality meanwhile welcomed top government agencies to the 2015 Women With Disabilities Day Celebration at the halls of Congress for a whole day forum and training session to help empower differently abled women, with the them “Juanang Maykapansanan, Kapasyahan Mo ay Mahalaga sa Bayan.” Television star…
