
Gerardo de Leon’s “Anak ni Dyesebel”
September 7, 2014Another fantasy film by National Artist in Film Gerardo “Gerry” de Leon, Dyesebel is a popular mermaid character originally conceived by Mars Ravelo. Up to this time, stories are written using the character. In this film produced in 1964 Eva Montes played as Alona, daughter of Dyesebel. The first to play the role was Edna Luna [1953], followed 20 years later by Vilma Santos (1973), Alma Moreno (1978), Alice Dixson (1990), and Charlene Gonzales (1996). On the television, the iconic mermaid was portrayed by Marian Rivera (2008) and Anne Curtis (2014). [Source: Wikipedia].
