Pelitula kay Maypagasa

December 6, 2013

Now working on the final cut of “Pelitula kay Maypag-asa.” [Pelikula/Film + Tula/Poem].

The film about the student activities of the Philippine High School for the Arts’ for “Perya ni Andres” presented last November 30 in celebration of Andres Bonifacio’s 150th birthday at Museo Pambata was just the first cut of the film I made in collaboration with Vim Nadera. Time was quite limited. I knew even before starting the shoot that it wouldn’t be possible to have a final cut. It was shot and edited during the same week it was shown. Besides, I wanted more shots for the ballet dance and had to reshoot the Kartilya presentation of the theater group because they have changed / toned down the acting on the performance that we first originally shot.

Bonifacio’s nom-de-guerre by the way, was Maypag-asa, thus the title.

Below is the trailer made by Bodjic during the dress rehearsal held on November 29, 2013.
