14th National Conference in Special EducationAugust 29, 2013
As part of my journey in the Sped world, I have attended conferences in the past , not as special education teacher, primary caregiver or any of the allied personnel but as an advocacy filmmaker. From then on, I keep on receiving invitations, just like the one below, from Conference Director, Dr. EDILBERTO I. DIZON.
Warm greetings! I am extremely excited and happy to welcome you to the 14th National SPED Conference! This is so because we get to convene as a community even just once a year; and, also because we have early on identified a pressing priority: that of ensuring progress and gains among our learners with special educational needs (LSEN) in regular schools within the context of the mandated K-12 Plan.
This year’s theme is: Helping Learners with Special Educational Needs Achieve in the K-12 Plan: Curricular and Instructional Accommodation, Modification and Individualization, and Promotion in Inclusive Schools
Date: October 26, 2013 (Saturday)
Time: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. – Registration / 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Conference
Venue: UP Film Institute, Diliman, Quezon City
You and I – with deep convictions – believe that our LSEN be given opportunities given to their normal counterparts toward a FUTURE. This is achievable if we get actively and purposively involved in their inclusive education from preschool onto high school and even tertiary education.
The conference, therefore, will tackle the following topics:
A. Review of Inclusive Education
B. Provisions of the K-12 Plan (RA# 105331: Enhanced Basic Education Act) that relate to the education of LSEN
C. Implications of RA# 105331 to the Education of LSEN
D. Curricular and Instructional Accommodation, Modification and Individualization for LSEN in Inclusive Schools
E. Promotion of LSEN in Inclusive Schools: Schemes and Issues
I look forward to our personal and professional bonding on October 26 as we remain ONE in sharing LOVE and CONCERN for learners with special needs!
