When Editing Was Like Hammering Your Head
August 4, 2011The other day I spent overnight editing Tikoy’s Kingpin at Scenema Concept, I became at one point so sleepy I couldn’t edit properly. Shots were going wayward. There was no sense in what I was doing. I was trying to finish a sequence but it was really like hammering my head because I was forcing myself to finish it. Eventually, I gave up. I knew I needed to rest.
At home, the shots started to sequence on their own in my head. I jotted them down. I forgot my notes when I returned today to the studio; but it took me only 15 minutes to edit what previously made me ‘surrender’ because of fatigue.
Moral lesson is not to force oneself when one is tired and sleepy. Let it be! Let them be!!! The brain needs rest as well as our body. Saturation point exists.
