Metro Manila College NOW
February 17, 2011I am sending today, if not, tomorrow the finished 12.45 mins AVP for Metro Manila College. It shows MMC Now— its students, from elementary to post-graduate in the course of their activities, with special focus on the Markmanship Training at the Firing Range, the school facilities, the Police Science Mini-Museum, the Katipunan tree of course, and it says a bit too about the “up-coming Isagani R. Medina Library and Museum.” By the way Isagani R. Medina, Lifetime Awardee of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in Cultural Research was the historian-brother of MMC 2nd vice-president Ligaya Medina-Miranda, wife of MMC founder Mamerto S. Miranda Sr. I happen to be their youngest sister.
Made with close friends, it had been real fun to make. Shooting with friends decreases tension. Work ambience tends to be very light. However, making the most complex of films or simple AVPs are in my opinion not much different, in the sense that producing them can only be real fun and tension-less if one comes prepared. Pre-production must be well-done. As with my other films, mostly docus, I come prepared from Day One. Rating my preparations, I gave myself 97% overall for accomplishing almost everything that I intended to do.
I particularly liked the markmanship training activity because that was my first time to see one [Will post a photo later]. All of them were wearing Pistolero t-shirts, said to be a very active group in the school. Dean Cruz showed us the real bullets that they use. We only spent 15-20 minutes to do the coverage of their training in real time. There was no retake. The “Investigative Process” was also interesting. MMC by the way, placed 2nd in the Criminologist’s Licensure Examinations in 2009.

Photo below was shot after the shooting of the Flag Ceremony. The avp features the school’s Lyre and Band group and the different school organizations.

The corner intended for the IRM Library & Museum. It will serve as the Filipiniana Section of the Main Library and will be open to the public.
One thing that I notice though is that the school is not yet PWD-friendly. They haven’t implemented BP344 or the Philippine Accessibility Law. But although there are no ramps for the physically impaired at present, they are welcome to the idea that I broached —that of introducing Deaf education in the school. I am trying to link them with DLS-CSB School for the Deaf and Allied Studies (SDEAS) with the hope that something positive come up. I pray that in the future they take into consideration the inclusion of PWDs. They must!!!
